With plenty of shoreline trails, concession areas, and well-maintained recreational facilities, Shirley Chisholm State Park has earned numerous designed awards since its inauguration. Getting here from the Lynbrook downtown area takes less than 30 minutes by car, driving west along route NY-27 and Belt Parkway. Some of the most popular activities among visitors include birdwatching, hiking, biking, fishing, and picnicking.

3. Valley Stream State Park

Located just four miles northwest of Lynbrook, Valley Stream State Park is one of the nearest recreational areas you can visit while in the region. Covering an area of a little under 100 acres near the village of Valley Stream, this place opened its doors to the public in the late 1920s and features a long nature trail, playgrounds, volleyball courts, picnic tables, public grills, and pavilions.
