There’s lots to do on Staten Island, NY! Just a short 90 minute drive west of Lynbrook, one of the best ways to enjoy the natural beauty of the area is to get out on a bike. With plenty of amazing biking trails in the area, you won’t have to look far for a fantastic place to enjoy some cycling.

1. South Beach/Midland Beach Greenway

What could be better than cycling while feeling the sea air blowing in your face? Midland Beach Greenway offers the chance to do just that, running for 8 miles on the boardwalk beside 2 of Staten Islands’ most popular beaches. It’s the perfect destination for those looking to enjoy a little seaside cycling! The path is well marked and runs along the pavement and boardwalk beside the beaches. Plenty of restrooms and water fountains are available along the way, and there are lots of access points, with beachside parking lots available.

2. New Springville Greenway

New Springville Greenway is a pleasant trail running for 3 miles past a variety of pleasant scenery. Riders pass by meadows, woodlands, and parks, and visitors could spot wildlife including deer. The path is smooth and wide, so it’s suitable for riders of all abilities. Find access and parking at Freshkills Park.

3. Wolfe’s Pond Park

If you’re a fan of mountain biking, Wolfe’s Pond Park is the place to be. This pleasant city park offers a range of quality mountain bike paths. There are a variety of trails available, with each one separated by difficulty level, ranging from beginner to expert. Whichever path you choose, you can enjoy scenic woodland and pondside views. Wolfe’s Pond Park is located on South Shore. Plenty of parking, bathrooms, and recreational facilities are available at the park. 4. LaTourette Park

This historic public park is a real favorite with Staten Island locals for its peaceful atmosphere and quality facilities. Along with its golf course, historic mansion, nature center, and adventure playground, it’s also home to a variety of great bike paths. A mostly smooth trail with some minor elevation in places, it’s suitable for beginners and could be the perfect place to bring kids still using their training wheels!

5. High Rock Park

Another great place to enjoy mountain biking, High Rock Park offers a range of trails, winding through its varied landscapes which include wetlands, woodlands, and ponds. The trails are mostly centered around the park’s hill and riders can enjoy the chance to build up some serious speed on the moderate incline. Please note that trails are shared with hikers and can grow busy on warmer days. The park is located on Nevada Avenue, just north of Egbertsville. Ample parking is available onsite.
