Trim Levels of the 2022 Ford Explorer

Sleek, athletic, and versatile, the 2022 Ford Explorer allows you to combine your practical responsibilities with a thirst for adventure. But which package is best suited to your lifestyle and requirements? With eight trim levels there are plenty of variations of this three-row SUV to choose from, so here’s our rundown of the available options.

1. Explorer

The base model is bursting with amenities to make your drive convenient and comfortable, with satellite radio, wifi hotspot, six speakers, and smartphone connectivity. The 2.3l turbo-four engine comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and RWD or intelligent 4WD are available.

Safety is enhanced with the Ford Co-Pilot360 system, which includes lane-keeping technology, automatic emergency braking, and intelligent adaptive cruise control with speed sign recognition.

2. XLT

Also fitted with the 2.3l powertrain, the XLT features heated front seats and captain’s seats with smart-changing USB ports for the second row. And if you’re itching to go off-road, there’s a terrain management system with seven available modes, including trail, slippery, and deep snow/sand, that can be accessed by the twist of a dial.

3. ST-Line

This trim is new to 2022, marrying the sporty styling of the ST to the efficient 2.3l engine. This model also gives you an upgraded interior with twelve Bang and Olufsen speakers and ActiveX upholstery. Features include power-folding side mirrors and remote start, as well as the Ford Co-Pilot Assist+ package with rain-detecting wipers, voice-activated navigation, and a reverse sensing system.

4. Limited

Designed for luxury travel, the Limited has leather upholstery and heated second-row seating. There’s also the option of a Limited Hybrid, which packs a powerful 3.3l V6 engine and electric motor.

5. Timberline

The Timberline is specifically configured for off-roading, with steel skid plates for extra protection and a Torsen limited-slip rear differential to ensure grip and traction. It comes with intelligent 4WD as standard and has a uniquely styled front grill.

6. ST

The sportiest member of the Explorer crew, this trim features the 3.0l Ecoboost V6 powertrain and is configured for even more athletic performance, with independent front and rear suspension and a heated sport-style steering wheel. It boasts an impressive 400 horsepower and has a top speed of 143 mph.

8. Platinum

Also available with the 3.3l hybrid engine, this model has adaptive LED signature headlights, Tri-Diamond leather seating, and illuminated front scuff plates. With a 14-speaker sound system and twin-panel moonroof available, this Explorer lets you travel in style.

7. King Ranch

At the top of the range, you can experience the Mesa Del Rio center console and upholstery on all rows, with power-folding third-row seats and a hands-free liftgate to take all of the effort out of the trip.
