Ford brought a popular model back to its lineup recently, and outdoor enthusiasts have been lining up to get their hands on the Bronco Sport. This capable and budget-friendly SUV has plenty to offer.

Trim Levels (Exterior)

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is an off-road-themed SUV offered in five trim levels: the Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, and First Edition. Exterior features on the Base trim include 17-inch wheels, roof rails, a rear liftgate with lighting and a flip-up rear window, and LED headlights. The Big Bend trim adds fog lights, tinted rear and side windows, and heated side mirrors.

With the midlevel Outer Banks trim, features include heated and rain-sensing wipers and remote ignition. The Badlands is best suited for off-roading with front tow hooks, underbody skid plates, specially tuned off-road suspension, all-terrain tires, and a special rear differential. At the top of the list, the First Edition comes with roof rack crossbars, a sunroof, a Class II tow hitch receiver, and taller all-terrain tires.

Engine (Power)

The standard engine on the 2021 Bronco Sport is a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder that makes 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. It pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The upper two trims come with a more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. This unit produces 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque.

This SUV is one of the few in the segment to offer four-wheel drive as standard. The Badlands trim comes with an upgraded four-wheel-drive system with an upgraded rear differential for enhanced traction on rough terrain.

Performance

This SUV drives best on rough terrain, as off-roading is one of its main areas of expertise. The intelligent traction modes further enhance the driving experience when tackling all types of conditions. However, it can certainly go from the trails to the road with ease. Quick acceleration and responsive steering provide a comfortable drive, regardless of the driving conditions. When equipped with the more powerful engine, the Bronco Sport goes from zero to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, which is quite impressive within its segment.

Interior

Although the Bronco Sport is a smaller model, it boasts a spacious and comfortable cabin. It also features a flexible, functional cargo area. The liftgate has a built-in bottle area and glass hatch, while the rising roofline provides additional storage space. An optional slide-out table turns the cargo area into a workspace, thanks to the 400-watt power inverter and overhead LED lighting.

Even the base trim comes well-equipped with cloth upholstery, manual climate control, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. On the tech side, standard equipment includes an 8-inch touch screen with Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, and a six-speaker sound system. Additional comfort options include automatic climate control, heated and power front seats, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and ambient lighting. This model is also available with wireless charging, an upgraded sound system, and extra USB ports.

Safety Features

All 2021 Ford Bronco Sport models include a rearview camera, anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control, and air bags throughout the cabin. This SUV also includes the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite of features, which bundles blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic assist, lane-keeping assist, and frontal collision mitigation. Additional upgrades include a 180-degree camera system, adaptive cruise control, and navigation.
